ABOUT

S. Mitchell Howie, better known as "Mitch" to Huntsville lawyers and clients alike, was raised in Huntsville Alabama, graduating from Huntsville High School in 1972.

He attended the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1976. He completed law school at the University of Alabama in 1980.

After working in the oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico and practicing law for several years in the state of Texas, he returned to his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama to raise his family and start his private practice. Mitch practiced law on the North side of the Madison County Courthouse Square for 30 years, but has now moved one block away to 100 Jefferson St. at the corner of Jefferson and Clinton Ave. just West of the Clinton St. garage.

Mitch and his wife Debra live on a farm in Madison County, Alabama on the Flint River with their horses, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a flock of laying chickens. Mitch tries to help his wife with the farm and gardens while still finding time to go to the river to relax.

I found myself in the unfortunate position to file bankruptcy in 2020. Funds to pay my bills, being a self-employed plumber “dried-up” greatly. I was not late on anything, paying in advance even until then. He is a tough negotiator and was able to get my re-affirmed vehicle loan down from 35% to SIX %, lower monthly payments, and the number of loan payments left reduced from 27 months to 17 months. Filing bankruptcy was an emotional experience to say the least, but Mitch Howie and his staff made it so much easier.
